PROMOTING, PLANNING, AND DEVELOPING PEGUIS FIRST NATION WITH SOUND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY.
Peguis Development Corporation (PDC) was established in 1984 in response to the growing need for a service organization to create and deliver an Economic Development program for the Peguis First Nation community. PDC believes that:
- Job creation is the result of business development and this business development comes as a result of access to higher education opportunities. Therefore, encouraging skills, development and entrepreneurship in Aboriginal youth is essential.
- Sound economic development incorporates state-of-the-art technology, community human resources, and a strong local labor market.
- Developing working relationships with local organizations and businesses, intergovernmental agencies and outside business groups is essential. The sharing of resources for training initiatives and community projects is important for providing more accessible market opportunities.
The Peguis Development Corporation is actively involved in the pursuit of development projects and economic growth of the community. Hard work, a consistent focus on the future, and leadership support and guidance has seen the community evolve from five businesses in 1981 to over seventy-five businesses at the present time – all of which have significantly contributed to an improved standard of living for Peguis First Nation people.
